Having reliable, comparable, and timely data is essential to highlight the true scope of South-South Cooperation (SSC) and strengthen its contribution to sustainable development. Aware of this challenge, the Ibero-American Program for the Strengthening of South-South Cooperation (PIFCSS) presents its new report: “Voluntary Survey to Verify the Adaptability of Information Systems to SSC Quantification Exercises.”
This study compiles the progress, challenges, and opportunities faced by Ibero-American countries in the collection, management, and reporting of SSC data. Although the landscape is diverse—with some countries already having consolidated platforms and others still facing technical, regulatory, and resource-related challenges—the common commitment is clear: to strengthen the capacities of Ibero-American countries to more effectively measure and report on SSC.
The report, built on technical contributions from participating countries, offers practical recommendations aimed at improving the quality, comparability, and usefulness of the data, promoting innovative solutions tailored to each country’s context. Moreover, it is expected to serve as a valuable input for the various regional and global initiatives currently underway in this field.
This effort is part of the PIFCSS 2024–2030 Strategy and represents a first step in a broader and sustained process. The goal is to support member countries in strengthening their information systems and consolidating tools and initiatives that foster better knowledge management in South-South Cooperation.
PIFCSS calls for renewed efforts and collective will to advance toward more robust, interoperable information systems aligned with today’s challenges. Rigorous measurement and evidence generation are key to maximizing the impact of SSC.
